Quebec-Ontario Athletic Association (QOAA) History
Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is a regional membership association for Canadian universities covering Ontario. It is one of four such bodies that are members of the country's governing body for university athletics, U Sports (Usports). The OUA started as the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union (CIAU Central), established in the 1902-03 season. It was a top tier scholastic league operating in Ontario and Quebec. It changed its name to the Quebec-Ontario Athletic Association (QOAA) in 1955. The conference lasted until 1971 when it and the other two conferences operating in Ontario and Quebec (the OIAA and OSLC) were merged and realigned into two conferences set up on provincial lines the Ontario Universities Athletic Association (OUAA) and the Quebec Universities Athletic Association (QUAA) In 1998 the OUAA was renamed the Ontario University Athletics (OUA).Note -The year listed represents the first year of the season, so 2002 link shows 2002-2003 season.
