1938 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 1938 National Invitation Tournament held at Madison Square Garden was the initial edition of the annual NCAA basketball competition. It consisted of six (6) teams in a single game elimination format. Temple coached by James Usilton defeated Colorado, 60 to 36 in the championship game. Don Shields of Temple was named the tournament MVP.
