1944 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 1944 National Invitation Tournament was held at Madison Square Garden, New York City. It consisted of eight (8) teams teams in a single game elimination format. In the championship game the St. John's Redmen coached by Joseph Lapchick defeated the DePaul Blue Demons to claim their second NIT title. Bill Kotsores of St. John's was named he tournament MVP.
