1946 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 1946 National Invitation Tournament was held at Madison Square Garden, New York City. It consisted of eight (8) teams teams in a single game elimination format. In the championship game the Kentucky Wildcats coached by Adolph Rupp defeated the Rhode Island Rams to claim their first NIT title. Ernie Calverley of Rhode Island was named he tournament MVP.
