1948 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 1948 National Invitation Tournament was held at Madison Square Garden, New York City. It consisted of eight (8) teams teams in a single game elimination format. In the championship game the Saint Louis Billikens coached by Ed Hickey, defeated the NYU Violets to claim their first NIT title. Ed Macauley of Saint Louis was named he tournament MVP.
