1951 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 1951 National Invitation Tournament was held at Madison Square Garden, New York City. The number of teams remained at 12. The tournament was still a single game elimination format. In the championship game the Brigham Young Cougars coached by Stan Watts, defeated the Dayton Flyers to claim their first NIT title. Roland Minson of BYU was named he tournament MVP.
