1965 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 1965 National Invitation Tournament was held at Madison Square Garden, New York City. The number of teams was expanded from 12 to 14 for the 1965 tournament.. The tournament was a single game elimination format. In the championship game the St. John's Red Storm, coached by Joe Lapchick, defeated the Villanova Wildcats claim their forth NIT title. Ken McIntyre of St. John's was named he tournament MVP.
