1966 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 1966 National Invitation Tournament was held at Madison Square Garden, New York City. The number of teams remained at 14 for the 1966 tournament.. The tournament was a single game elimination format. In the championship game the BYU Cougars, coached by Stan Watts, defeated the NYU Violets claim their second NIT title.Bill Melchionni of Villanova was named he tournament MVP.
