1971 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 1971 NITwas a single game elimination tournament, consisting of sixteen (16) teams. All games were played at Madison Square Gardens in New York City. In the all ACC championship game, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets lost to the North Carolina Tar Heels coached by Dean Smith. The tournament MVP wasBill Chamberlain from North Carolina.
