1974 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 1974 NIT was a single game elimination tournament, consisting of sixteen (16) teams. All games were played at Madison Square Gardens in New York City. The championship game saw the Purdue Boilermakers coached by Fred Schaus claim their first NIT title defeating the Utah Utes in the championship game. Mike Sojourner of Utah was named the tournament MVP.
