2001 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 2001 NIT Tournament remained at a 32 team field. The preliminary rounds consisting of four regions with eight teams each playing at a teams home site. Ther four finalists from the regions met at Madison Square Gardeens to determine a champion. Buzz Peterson coached the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the title game. Marcus Hill of Tulsa was named the tournament MVP.
