1982 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 1982 NIT Tournament remained at a 32 team field. The preliminary rounds consisting of four regions with eight teams each playing at a teams home site. The four finalists from the regions met at Madison Square Gardeens to determine a champion. The Bradley Braves coached by Dick Versace won their fourth title by defeating the Purdue Boilermakers in the championship game. J. J. Anderson of Bradley was the tournament MVP.
