2012 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 2012 National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that were not selected to participate in the 2012 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. The 75th annual tournament began March 13 on campus sites ended on March 29 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Stanford Cardinal coached by Johnny Dawkins won their second NIT title, defeating the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the championship game. Aaron Bright of Stanford was named the tournament MVP.
