2003 NIT Basketball Tournament

The 2003 NIT Tournament remained at a 40 team field. The opening round consisted of 16 teams playing for 8 spots in the tournament. Preliminary rounds consisting of four regions with eight teams each playing at a teams home site made up the second round. The four winners from the regions met at Madison Square Gardeens to determine a champion. Although St Johns defeated Georgetown in the final game, St. John's later vacated its tournament wins and title championship due to an ineligible player.
