Dallas Stars Team Information

NHL Dallas Stars Team Information

The Dallas Stars franchise riginally added to the NHL in the 1967-8 season, under the Minnesota North Stars name. At the same time the California Seals were given a franchise.

On December 8, 1967 the California Seals changed their name to the Oakland Seals. For the 1976-77 season the California franchise was transferred to Cleveland, named the Cleveland Barons. For the 1978-79 season the Cleveland and Minesota franchises merge, under the Minnesota name. For the 1993-94 season the Minnesota franchise was transferred to Dallas. After the labor lockout shortened the 1994-95 season, the team was sold to media mogul Tom Hicks. The Dallas Stars won their first Stanley Cup defeating Buffalo in the 1999 season.
