Stanley Cup 1918-19 Season
The Montreal Canadians faced Seattle Metropolitans for the Stanley Cup. Each team had won two and tied one when the influenza epidemic struck. The Canadians were forced to forfeit. The Stanley Cup was going to be awarded to Seattle but they refused it. This was the only year in the history of the NHL until the 2005 lockout, that there was no Stanley Cup winner.
National Hockey League (NHL) pages on Rauzulu's Street:
^ topThe National Hockey League (NHL) agreed that it's champion would play the champion of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association for the Stanley Cup.
The format for the Stanley Cup was a best of 5 games, all played in 1919 in Seattle. The games were played under the NHL/PCHA rules, alternating between games.
The individual championship of the NHL was a seven game series, the PCHA championship being a 2 game total goal format played under the specific league rules.
