Stanley Cup 1921-22 Season
With the new Western Canada Hockey League beginning play in the 1921-22 season, the playoff structure was altered. Since the Cup finals were to be held in the East the winners of the two Western leagues would meet to decide a winner, with the victor to play the NHL champion in a best of five series.
The Vancouver Millionaires defeated the Regina Capitals going on to face the NHL's Toronto St. Pats. The series went a full five games with Toronto finally winning.
National Hockey League (NHL) pages on Rauzulu's Street:
^ topWith the advent of the Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL) for the 1922 Stanley Cup playoffs the format was revised from the previous years. Since the final were scheduled to occur in the east, the champions of the Pacific Coast Hockey League (PCHL) would play the champions of the WCHL to determine who would play the champions of the NHL for the Stanley Cup.
The NHL played a two game, total goal series between the first and second place teams to determine a champion. The PCHL played a two game total goals series to determine a champion. The WCHL played a two game total goal semi final between the second and third place teams with the winner facing the first place team in a two game, total goal series.
The winners of the PCHA and WCHL championships played a two game, total goal series to determine a West champion.
The Stanley Cup finals were still a best of five games, with Toronto St Patricks claiming the Cup, 3 games to 2 over the Vancouver Millionaires. All games were played in Toronto.
