National Hockey League (NHL) Season Review 1934-1935
The league again played a 48 game schedule with nine teams. The Ottawa Senators financial issues forced them to relocate to St Louis becoming the Eagles. Forced to deal with the reality of their economic situation the NHL reduced the team salary cap to $62,500 per team and $7,000 per player maximums.
The Montreal Canadiens traded Howie Morenz to Chicago along with netminder Lorne Chabot who would win the Venzina trophy. Hart trophy winner Eddie Shore led the Boston Bruins to first place in the American Division while Charlie Conacher led the league in scoring for the Canadian Division leading Maple Leafs.
Toronto beat Boston in the match-up of first-place teams. The Montreal Maroons beat the the Black Hawks and Rangers to advance to the finals. The Maroons beat the Maple Leafs in three staright games.
