National Hockey League (NHL) Season Review 1962-1963
In a very competative season the Toronto Maple Leafs won the regular season. Five points separated first to the fourth place Detroit Red Wings. Montreal finished third with the Black Hawks second.
Gordie Howe won the Ross Trophy as the league's leading scorer and the Hart Trophy as its MVP. He won both awards for the sixth and last time.
In the Stanley Cup playoffs, Toronto beat Montreal in five games while the Black Hawks lost to Detroit in six games.
In the final series, the Maple Leafs won the first two games in Toronto.. Detroit won game three, but Toronto won the next two to take the Stanley Cup for the second year in a row.
