Many of the sites you will visit show only results from the NHL era, namely 1918 to present. Even our cup by team summary does this. The Stanley Cup was presented prior to this but most records only include the NHL era results.
The history of the cup, it's trials and tribulations are well worth the time and effort to explore. Unlike many of todays tophies the cup (actually a copy) is given to the winning team members to do what they see fit. This, needless to say, leads to many a tale. Be sure to check these out. Realize that prior to 1962, the stories are occuring with the actual Stanely Cup, not a copy. It makes you wonder how it is still around today.
