The NASCAR Cup Series is a stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR (the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing). NASCAR’s premier series had been known as the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series since Jan. 1, 2017, rebranded in 2020. It holds races over the season at tracks located in the United States both road courses and ovals. Although the roots of the series was in the use of "stock" manufacturers vehicles, todays cars are custom built automobiles powered by custom built V8 engines.

Airborne Speedway - Cup Series Race Winners

Airborne Speedway has a rich history as one of the oldest racing tracks in the Northeast. Founded a a 0.50 mile track in 1954 by Maurice Broderick, it was named after the nearby Strategic Air Command base in Plattsburgh, New York. The track has undergone several changes over the years, including at least six different names and a transition to an asphalt surface starting in the 1961 season. It has been known as Airborne Park Speedway, Airborne International Raceway, Airborne Speedway, Adirondack Park andPlattsburgh International Raceway.The tack hosted a 200 lap NASCAR Grand National Series event in 1955.
