The NASCAR Cup Series is a stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR (the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing). NASCAR’s premier series had been known as the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series since Jan. 1, 2017, rebranded in 2020. It holds races over the season at tracks located in the United States both road courses and ovals. The venue has hosted major events since its inaugural season in 1969, including NASCAR and IndyCar races. It has a 54,000-seat capacity as of 2022. The speedway is owned by Speedway Motorsports, LLC (SMI). Dover Motor Speedway (DMS) is measured at 1-mile (1.6 km), with 24 degrees of banking in the turns and 9 degrees of banking on the track's straightaways. |
