The NASCAR Cup Series is a stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR (the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing). NASCAR’s premier series had been known as the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series since Jan. 1, 2017, rebranded in 2020. It holds races over the season at tracks located in the United States both road courses and ovals. Grand Rapids Speedrome - Cup Series Race Winners
 | There was a 0.50 mile and a 0.25 mile track built, The 0.25 mile was going to hold midget racing and the 0.50 mile was to have big stock car events. As the track opened the fans were less interested in the midget racing despite the big names attending the races. The stock car events weren't pulling in enough cars, Even so the track did manage to attract a NASCAR race in its 2nd year of operation, followed up by a 2nd event in 1954. Unfortunately the track had 4 different promoters in the first five years, In 1957, the promoters decided to pave the 0.25 mile track and in 1964 paved the 0.50 mile track for supermodifieds. By 1966 the government had bought the property to run the freeway through it. |
