Nascar Cup Series

The NASCAR Cup Series is a stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR (the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing). NASCAR’s premier series had been known as the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series since Jan. 1, 2017, rebranded in 2020. It holds races over the season at tracks located in the United States both road courses and ovals. Although the roots of the series was in the use of "stock" manufacturers vehicles, todays cars are custom built automobiles powered by custom built V8 engines.

Newberry Speedway - Cup Series Race Winners

Newberry Speedway opened up as a 1/2 mile oval dirt track in 1952 running Stock Cars and Sportsman's as a part of the Rebel Racing Association. that hosted a one and only NASCAR Grand National Cup race. The race was concidered a complete failure as only 900 people were on hand to watch the event. This was the smallest crowd to ever attend a NASCAR race. After the conclusion of the 1960 race season the owners cut the track back to a basic 0.250 mile track. Stock Cars and Late Model Sedans continued to race at the track.
