Tar Heel Speedway - Cup Series Race Winners

The NASCAR Cup Series is a stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR (the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing). NASCAR’s premier series had been known as the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series since Jan. 1, 2017, rebranded in 2020. It holds races over the season at tracks located in the United States both road courses and ovals. Although the roots of the series was in the use of "stock" manufacturers vehicles, todays cars are custom built automobiles powered by custom built V8 engines.

Tar Heel Speedway - Cup Series Race Winners

In 1957 the Tar Heel Speedway opened to local weekly racing, The track was built by Harold Brasington, most remembered as the founder of Darlington Speedway. Tar Heel Speedway reopened in 1963 as a 0.25 mile Nascar oval track. The 5th of May 1963, The 10th of May 1963 and then on the 22nd of November 1963, Grand National races were held. The speedway reopened briefly in 1975 as Kings Kountry Motor Speedway, but that effort only lasted a matter of weeks and the track closed permantly.
