Tri-City Speedway - Cup Series Race Winners

The NASCAR Cup Series is a stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR (the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing). NASCAR’s premier series had been known as the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series since Jan. 1, 2017, rebranded in 2020. It holds races over the season at tracks located in the United States both road courses and ovals. Although the roots of the series was in the use of "stock" manufacturers vehicles, todays cars are custom built automobiles powered by custom built V8 engines.

Tri-City Speedway - Cup Series Race Winners

Tri-City Speedway opened in 1947 as a half-mile red dirt track built by brothers Bill and Bob Blair. The speedway became notable for hosting two NASCAR Grand National races in the early 1950s. Located in High Point, North Carolina, Tri-City Speedway remained a central hub for racing even as newer tracks emerged post-World War II. It transitioned from dirt to asphalt and back to dirt over the years, reflecting the evolving nature of motorsport. In 1972 the track was paved as the owners were changing direction by promoting more Stock Car racing.. In 1977 the track was renamed the track to Queen City Speedway. During the 1980's Queen City Speedway would play host to many of the NASCAR stars of the future, The track was closed in 1988.
