The NASCAR Cup Series is a stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR (the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing). NASCAR’s premier series had been known as the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series since Jan. 1, 2017, rebranded in 2020. It holds races over the season at tracks located in the United States both road courses and ovals. Although the roots of the series was in the use of "stock" manufacturers vehicles, todays cars are custom built automobiles powered by custom built V8 engines. NASCAR Cup Series Champions |
Hamburg Speedway - Cup Series Race Winners
 | The track was a 0.50 mile dirt oval that opened in 1929. It hosted it's first major eventwith the AAA Series and again in 1946 and 1947. The first major full bodied car race came when the NASCAR Strictly Stock Series raced there in 1949. Strictly Stock was the fore-runner to the Cup Series, and NASCAR's first series after it's creation. NASCAR returned in 1950 under the banner of 'Grand National' Series.. Other series that raced here included the American Racing Drivers Club Sprints (and Midgets), USAC Sprints and Super DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds among several others. The track was closed in 1997. |
