The NASCAR Cup Series is a stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR (the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing). NASCAR’s premier series had been known as the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series since Jan. 1, 2017, rebranded in 2020. It holds races over the season at tracks located in the United States both road courses and ovals.  | The Santa Clara County Fairgrounds is an event venue in San Jose, California. The 165-acre (67 ha) fairgrounds has been owned by the County of Santa Clara since 1940 and is operated by the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds Management Corporation, The Santa Clara County Fairgrounds racetrack, established in San Jose, evolved from early harness racing in the 1950s into a premier 0.25-mile dirt oval for auto racing, with the modern, popular speedway operating from 1978 until its closure in 1999. The track hosted varied events, including midget and stock car racing, before declining and closing in the late 1990s. |
